The Buffalo Sabres opened the NHL Draft on Friday by selecting 6-foot-6, right-shot defenseman Radim Mrtka with the ninth-overall pick. The draft continues Saturday with Rounds 2 through 7 beginning at 12 p.m. on NHL Network and ESPN+.

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired defenseman Connor Clifton and a second-round selection (No. 39 overall) in the ongoing NHL Draft from the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday in exchange for defenseman Conor Timmins and defensive prospect Isaac Belliveau.

The second day got off to a historic start as Wang became the highest drafted Chinese-born player in NHL history when the San Jose Sharks took him with the top selection of Round 2 (No. 33 overall).
