Despite parting ways with multiple veterans this offseason, the Utah Jazz reportedly aren't planning to move on from star forward Lauri Markkanen.
The Utah Jazz lost a franchise legend and icon of the city on Wednesday, as it was announced that former Jazz coach and general manager Frank Layden has passed away at the age of 93.
In 1984, Layden was named the NBA’s Coach of the Year and the NBA’s Executive of the Year as the Jazz finished first in the Midwest Division. That year, he drafted the NBA’s all-time assist and steal leader, John Stockton; Layden drafted the league’s third-place all-time scorer, Karl Malone, the very next year.

But instead, it was Riley Minix who called game on the other end. Minix caught an inbounds pass and hit a fadeaway contested bucket from the short corner to lift the Spurs to the win — which sparked a huge celebration on the floor in Las Vegas.
