The Canton Fire Department is investigating after a woman was hospitalized and a dog was killed in a house fire Wednesday afternoon.

A person was arrested on aggravated arson charges after a fire was intentionally set in a Canton home Thursday night, officials said.

Canton firefighters say the house fire that left a woman hurt and killed a dog Wednesday has been determined to be accidental.The fire happened at 619 Union Ave. SW, and the department says several people and animals escaped.

A judge has sentenced the last two defendants to prison from a July case involving abductions and beatings in southwest Canton.
