Show host Stephen Colbert played a murdered talk show host in the 'Elsbeth' season 3 premiere, coincidentally airing a few months after CBS announced his show's 2026 cancellation.
The late night talk show host is staying booked and busy, even as the months wind down for his “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” It was announced in July by CBS that the show would be ending in May 2026, so another one of the network’s shows had some fun with Colbert being “killed off.”

Colbert, whose show is slated to end in May, made a virtual appearance Saturday at the New York Comic Con to reveal that he is voicing a role in “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.” The new trailer for the show was also shown along with its release date.
