Despite the never-ending slew of injuries and promising campaigns in the cup competitions that could yet bear trophy fruit, such a dismal league run has seen serious pressure mount on manager Postecoglou, who accepted blame for Sunday’s dire first half on Merseyside after a formation switch that backfired badly.

Postecoglou believes in what he is doing and this group of players, perhaps he deserves a bit of belief in return. Support is easy when the team is winning and he has been terribly unfortunate with injuries. Right now what the club needs is to back a manager that has shown that they can compete with anyone in the Premier League when at their best.
