On Sunday, multiple major Portuguese outlets claimed that Manchester United were going to try and hijack Arsenal’s stalling deal for Gyökeres. The Red Devils were even described as “quite close” to striking an agreement with Sporting CP, who have thus far failed to find common ground with the Gunners.

Gabriel Magalhaes admitted that Viktor Gyokeres is a ‘great’ player as the Sporting Lisbon striker inches closer to his move to Arsenal. The Gunners have identified the Sweden international as their leading transfer target up front and have made huge progress in getting a deal over the line in recent weeks.

The Gunners remain calm over Gyokeres but are growing frustrated with Sporting’s refusal to compromise, as talks over a summer move continue to stall.
