Plainville Firefighter Raymond “Ray” Moreau will be honored on Tuesday night after making the ultimate sacrifice at a house fire over the weekend when a piece of a fire truck broke and struck him
Raymond Moreau was on scene and standing near a fire truck when a piece of it broke free and hit him, causing “catastrophic injuries."
Gov. Ned Lamont ordered that all flags fly at half-staff until sunset on the day of internment, which is not yet determined.
Moreau was 60 and a 35-year member of the Plainville Fire Department. A state police spokesman said Moreau, a veteran, was struck by a piece of apparatus that broke free at the fire scene. He died later at the hospital during surgery, state police said. He was described as a loving husband and dedicated volunteer.
