Greg Cronin has been fired as coach of the Anaheim Ducks after two seasons. General manager Pat Verbeek made the announcement Saturday.

Verbeek made his move. Now he has to not only find a new coach, but find a way to give that coach a better roster.

For the seventh-straight season, the Anaheim Ducks will not participate in the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. Next year, they’ll attempt to break that streak with a new face behind the bench. The team announced Saturday that head coach Greg Cronin won’t return next season.
