Derrick Groves, the convicted murderer and escaped New Orleans inmate who was on the run for months, was in court in Atlanta on Thursday morning.
Groves, 28, was taken into custody at a residence on Honeysuckle Lane SW by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, with help from Atlanta Police and Clayton County officers. Groves blew kisses to the camera as he was placed into a patrol car.
A source tells WDSU that Derrick Groves may be linked to the Atlanta area. The source says multiple tips have been called in. At this time, the Atlanta Police Department and other law enforcement agencies are working on a scene where a suspect is barricaded in a home in Atlanta.
