JEROME, Fla. (WWSB) - Evidence and DNA collected from a black bear killed this week has confirmed it was the animal that killed a Collier County man and his dog, state wildlife officials said.
The man who died has been identified as 89-year-old Robert Markel, a long-time resident of a small community in Collier County.
