Warner Bros Discovery on Thursday decided to separate its declining cable TV businesses such as CNN from streaming and studio operations such as Max, laying the groundwork for a potential sale or spinoff of its TV business as more cable subscribers cut the cord.

Warner Bros. Discovery reaches an agreement for Comcast Corp. to continue carrying its cable channels, including HBO, TNT, CNN and Animal Planet.

Since the combination that created Warner Bros. Discovery, we have transformed our business and improved our financial position while providing world class entertainment to global audiences,” WBD president and CEO David Zaslav said in a statement (via THR).
