Miami’s perfect season hopes are dashed as Beck throws 4 interceptions in loss to Louisville
Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes are dealing with a loss for the first time. Miami's hopes for a perfect season vanished Friday night when it lost 24-21 to Louisville.
On Friday, Oct. 17 the Miami Hurricanes suffered their first loss of the season in a 24-21 upset at the hands of the Louisville Cardinals, who moved to 5-1 on the season. Miami had a chance to win - or at least tie - the game in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter,
As a reminder, in PFF's grading scale, 60.0 is the baseline for an "average" grade. 70.0-79.9 is considered above average, 80.0-89.9 is good, whereas 90.0 and higher is elite. On the opposite end of the spectrum, 59.9-50.0 is below average, 49.9-40.0 is considered poor, whereas 39.9 and below is very poor.
Again, as bad as things were, Miami was 31 yards and 36 seconds away from either scoring the winning points or kicking a game-tying field goal to force overtime. Instead, Beck threw his fourth interception of the night and Miami fell to 5-1.
Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Duke all enter Saturday unbeaten in conference play, while Louisville has one loss, but now holds the tiebreaker over Miami if both finish with the same conference record. While Miami has a manageable schedule to close, a trip to Pittsburgh late in the year has caused issues for the Hurricanes in the past.
