DALLAS -- Texas faces off against No. 6 Oklahoma in the historic Red River Rivalry game at the State Fair of Texas on Saturday. The Longhorns hope to rebound after losing their first two games against power conference opponents, including a 29-21 loss to Florida last week behind a struggling offensive line.
The Oklahoma Sooners are set to face off against their most bitter rival on Saturday, the Texas Longhorns. I won't fall for calling it the Red River Showdown because to me, it will always be the Red River Rivalry.
Texas and No. 6 Oklahoma are facing off in the latest edition of the Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl. Arch Manning and the Longhorns (3-2) need a win to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive, while the Sooners (5-0) have John Mateer back after the quarterback underwent hand surgery last month.
Mateer entered the stadium to a big ovation from the OU crowd and took the field for warmups about 90 minutes prior to kickoff at the Cotton Bowl. He was without the black wrist brace he’s been seen wearing since the surgery. Mateer appeared to go through a normal warmup routine and threw several passes.
No. 6 Oklahoma and Texas will renew their rivalry this Saturday with another installment of the Red River Shootout. The hype surrounding this matchup took a hit last weekend when Texas suffered an upset loss to Florida.
