GameChat is just one of a few smart new things Nintendo is doing with its online services. GameShare, which lets you share a Switch game you have with friends who don’t have it so you can play multiplayer together, works online. (This was another feature Nintendo showed before digging into the Switch 2’s specs.)

At the moment, we know of around 20 new and old games that will be available on launch day. So far Nintendo has only confirmed two first-party launch titles for Switch 2: A new Mario Kart and a weird Switch 2 tutorial game that looks like something that should be included for free (but won’t be).

Nintendo showed its trademark ability to delight with its console’s unveiling. But some of what it showed was a little head-scratching.

More than a million people watched online as details of the long awaited successor to the hit console were announced.

Nintendo has unveiled the first official details about the Switch 2 console, its follow-up to the Switch. The Switch 2 will release on June 5, it was announced in a Nintendo Direct on Wednesday morning.

The Mario-maker offered a sneak peek of its highly anticipated new console in January after a series of leaks, but the official detailed unveiling is set to take place Wednesday.
