TORONTO — Rookie Trey Yesavage, a Boyertown High School graduate, set a Blue Jays postseason record by striking out 11 in 5 1/3 no-hit innings in a dazzling performance Sunday night as Toronto beat the New York Yankees 13-7 to take a 2-0 lead in the ALDS.
Trey Yesavage and his family will never forget what transpired on Sunday afternoon in Toronto. Making just his fourth career start, Yesavage pitched the game of his life, striking out 11 hitters across 5 1/3 innings of no-hit ball.
All the way over on the west coast, the Mariners picked up a much-needed 3-2 win against the Tigers, with Jorge Polanco and Julio Rodríguez each playing hero. Polanco hit two solo home runs off of Detroit ace Tarik Skubal, then Rodríguez delivered the go-ahead double in the bottom of the eighth inning.
