The National Hurricane Center on Tuesday said it would begin advisories on newly formed Tropical Storm Jerry that could threaten the Caribbean.

An area of low pressure in the central tropical Atlantic Ocean is expected to form as a tropical depression within the next day, becoming Tropical Storm Jerry not long after, forecasters said Tuesday morning.

Hurricane Priscilla has intensified into a Category 2 storm off the west coast of Mexico and is expected to keep getting stronger, possibly into a Category 3 before starting to weaken.

"We believe that it has a good chance of becoming a tropical storm over the next few days,” one meteorologist told Newsweek.

Tropical Storm Imelda may strengthen into a hurricane, with flooding risks from Florida to Virginia and highest threats along the Carolinas.
