Jan 31, 2025 · Mega Evolution (Japanese: メガシンカ Mega Evolution) is a temporary transformation introduced in Pokémon X and Y that affects certain Pokémon. It is present in the Generation VI and VII core series games, and is set to reappear in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Mega Evolutions are temporary battle forms of various Pokémon. These Pokémon need to have a special hold item in order to activate known as a Mega Stone. When a Pokémon's Mega Stone is activated alongside a trainer's Key Stone, the Pokémon will Mega Evolve into a stronger form.

To reach the base level you only need to mega evolve your Pokémon once in order to reach the Base level, then another 6 Mega evolutions to reach the High level, then a final 23 more evolutions to reach the Max level.
