Jan 25, 2025 · Meowth (Japanese: ニャース Nyarth) is a member of Team Rocket, more specifically part of a trio with Jessie and James, that follows Ash Ketchum and his friends around in Pokémon the Series, usually trying to steal Ash's Pikachu. His major difference from other Meowth, and nearly all other Pokémon, is that he can talk and walk on two legs like a human.

Meowth is a Normal -type Pokémon. He is a member of Team Rocket that travels with James and Jessie, serving as one of the main antagonists of the franchise, a supporting character in the Pokémon movies, and the main antagonist of Pikachu Shorts series. He is one of the few non- Legendary Pokémon who can communicate with humans.

In FireRed and LeafGreen, Team Rocket has a small branch in the Sevii Islands, searching for the Ruby and Sapphire gems. This branch is based out of the Rocket Warehouse on Five Island, situated in the middle of the Five Isle Meadow, where many Pokémon are held captive in cages.

Team Rocket are a criminal group run in Kanto who intend to steal Pokémon and use them for nefarious means. You encounter them throughout the Kanto Region and have to stop them wherever possible. There are multipl generic Team Rocket grunts to face, as well as a trio known as Jessie, James & Meowth and various leaders within the organisation.

Consists of a Meowth head with a raised paw and tail at the back, a green basket, and two beige sandbags. It has often been Team Rocket's main mode of transportation and can be given many attachments including rockets, vacuums, nets, fists, cages, etc. It appeared regularly until Pokémon the Series: Black & White.
