Tomorrow is the King’s Speech.Since the last one, Labour has delivered change to improve lives, from renters’ rights and action on child poverty to safer streets, rail public ownership and Great British Energy.Much more still to do, but Labour is getting on with the job.

With this Labour Government, Britain has seen inflation come down, six interest rate cuts and borrowing fall.The PM’s steady leadership means we are better able to protect families, support businesses, work with allies and face global challenges.

Protecting Domestic Violence Survivors Sometimes domestic abuse doesn’t show up clearly in the justice system. It’s hidden behind other crimes like assault or criminal damage. That’s changing. A new law means judges can now formally record when domestic abuse was involved in a case. It’s a simple step that will make a big difference - helping to spot repeat offenders, share information faster, and keep victims safer. | Catherine Atkinson

Defections? More like rebranding. Same faces, same failures, same old arguments playing out in public. Reform gets exposed, the Conservatives implode. And no need to get a half-and-half scarf…it’s basically the same team. The country deserves better than egos and showy press conferences. I’ve been part of the committee examining the Hillsborough Bill, and we have now finished our line-by-line scrutiny to help it get ready ot become law. This Bill introduces a new duty of candour, criminal penalties for cover-ups and for misleading the public, stronger protections against misconduct in public office, and major new legal aid rights so families are never left to fight alone. Labour is repairing the deep and lasting damage caused when Conservative cuts pushed local services to breaking point. Last year, this Labour government delivered a £22 million boost to Derby City Council — a really important step toward repairing our services.
