Like a flickering ember, the Holocaust — the effort in the 1930s and 1940s by the Nazi regime to murder all European Jewish people — is fading from living memory. At least four survivors with roots in the Pittsburgh area have died since January. Fewer than 20 survivors remain in the region, where there had been at least 350.
