May 1st means sea turtle nesting season has begun in Georgia! 🐢 Our Tybee Sea Turtle Project volunteers will begin dawn patrol, where they walk the beach at sunrise 🌅 and look for turtle tracks left by females who came on the beach to nest. When a nest is found and confirmed, one egg is collected for DNA 🧬 testing, and the nest is marked 🚩and recorded! It takes approximately 50-75 days for a nest to hatch, so we will start to see hatching in July. We hope this year is the best year yet 🐢💪�
