#TBT time, Long Beach! Built in 1902, The Pike had its humble beginning as a beach and bathhouse resort (with the bathhouse later being called The Plunge). Located at the end of a red car electric line from Los Angeles, the space grew into a full-on amusement park. In the 1950s, as The Pike began to face competition from other SoCal amusement parks, the owners held a re-naming contest and “Nu-Pike” won. By 1969, it was then named Queens Park until it closed in 1979. This video is from a history
